Since 1996 CBShop has been active with a webshop. Products were sold via this website right from the first moment. There was a period when we sold a lot of radio scanners to the USA because we shipped them with the telephone bands open.

There was not much of what we now consider quite normal. We often had to invent the wheel ourselves and organizations were not at all geared towards internet sales.

Payment by credit card was often done by fax, especially when approving the payments.

There was no ideal, and people simply transferred the money before we sent the product.

In all those years, one webshop hallmark appeared to another, and we were often approached to participate. There were no serious partners to be found in the home shopping guarantee. And I found the Thuiswinkel guarantee especially expensive and offered little to my customers.

There have also been dissatisfied customers in the 22 years that we have now been active, but never at all a conflict that we could not resolve with a customer. So we certainly didn't have to have a disputes committee or something like that for that. But trust at first sight in an online store has become increasingly important on the internet with more and more providers, including webshops that take customers less seriously.

In 2008 I was approached by Trusted Shops. The most famous European quality mark. To get a certificate from them, you have to pass an audit with more than 60 quality criteria before you get this quality mark. This went very far. You could see that they are used to working with large online players such as Zalando and Hornbach. Got the feeling that every word on the site was under a magnifying glass.

And after quite a few adjustments to the website and conditions, the time has now come for the guarantee mark to be obtained. Another advantage is now that foreign customers also know Trusted Shops. And not a world-famous label in the Netherlands see what it says nothing.
